if the Mac you're using has OS8, there's a built-in webserver available
under the Control Panels.   it's called "Web Sharing", and gives you a
minimal server straight out of the box.   there are something like three
buttons on the setup dialog, so getting it running isn't too much of a
challenge.

failing that, check around for another free webserver called QuidProQuo.
i don't happen to remember the URL off the top of my head, but the makers
offer a freeware seeding version, and then charge for the latest & greatest
copy.   it's  a good, full-featured server, and is easy both to install and
to run.
