Everyone in the Linux community jumped for joy when Intel invested
in RedHat two(?) months ago. I suppose mostly out of some sense of
validation. [Cut to Sally Field: "You like me! You really like me!"]

The truth is, it was just a good business decision for Intel.
Hedging their bets is exactly what they are doing; its a win-win
situation no matter how everything plays out. Further proof is their
announcement last week that they also support the joint IBM/SCO
effort to develop a new "industry-standard" UNIX for the IA-64
architecture.
