Someone suggested that posting the responses to my query would be a Good Thing. Here's what I've got so far: * AltaVista's Discovery engine http://altavista.digital.com/discovery/ * FileMaker Pro (brew your own database, then manually enter your info) http://www.filemaker.com/ * Zoot, "It is a fairly advanced, but deceptively simple program which can track e-mail, web sites, store articles and serve as a database for information online and off." http://www.zootsoftware.com/ * Wilbur, "Presuming that his reference to all those different formats (.html, .pdf, .ps, .txt,.doc) will be satisfied by retaining their availability in that format, yet indexed separately, Wilbur might be something to consider. Even to the point of zip inside zip and words inside tables in Word documents. But Wilbur is really just a search and index engine, not a structured and unstructured database. It does require Windows 95 and is available in evaluation form. http://www.redtree.com/wilbur/ * "InfoSelect meets some of the other requirements, but I don't believe it does indexing of external files. This may have changed with the new version 4.0. It lists as a feature that you can store data from any application that uses OLE, and does support file synchronization." <no URL given> Julian -- meep! media, inc.
