You've got to be kidding?  The ethics of "turning those ad banners off"?
What about the ethics of hitting "mute" during TV commercials?  About
hanging up on telemarketers?   About receiving spam?

I am under no obligation to receive any network traffic of any kind that
I don't wish to.  Period.  This is why I run anti-spam software, screen
all my incoming phone calls, and use anti-ad-banner software in my http
proxies.  There is no ethical debate here, only the bleating of clueless
marketroids who wish to inflict their trash on anyone they can.
