SURVEY FINDS HALF OF AMERICAN HOMES HAVE PCS Issue: InfoTech The PC home penetration rate continues to grow, reaching 50 percent in a report from market research firm Dataquest that is out today. The 23 percent change in just three years is being driven by strong sales of lower-priced personal computers and by increased computer performance. "There is evidence that the first time buyers are coming from households in the lower socioeconomic levels, however the increase in penetration is across all segments," Van Baker of Dataquest said.
