Seybolds SF Publishing 99 at the Moscone Center, August 31st to
September 2nd.
We're launching our TurboPress print-to-Web automation system
we've developed for publications wanting to go online (see
http://www.TurboPress.com). We figure that if, as I read last year,
the members of the US Magazine Publishers Association are
spending an average of $2.5 million annually getting their
publications online and managed, then a fair whack of automation
would be a Useful Thing.
We've tested TurboPress for around a year now on our own
publication (http://nzsm.spis.co.nz) and it's ready to go. Anything
and everything that a publisher needs (online management, auto
indexing, auto content/structure management, subs and ads
handling, communications etc etc etc).
And yes, we're designing a release version for Web consultant type
people to be able to install and handle for their own clients... :-)
If anyone has come across anything else like this I'd be keen to
hear of it. It's kinda hard to check out the market (you try searching
on "Web publishing"!), but the closest I've seen are things like
Vignette Story Server which handle part of the problem, but not all
of it.
I'm looking forward to seeing SF -- Peter (tame software engineer
and slave to my charms) and I don't get to travel together much on
business, so it'll be an interesting experience.
