New search engine to locate photos, logos

PALO ALTO, Calif. (Reuters) - Finding a corporate name or slogan on the
Internet is a simple task, with the plethora of search engines available to
perform the task.
But what about a company concerned about its corporate logo being misused
in e-commerce, or an artist suspecting unauthorized use of her work on the
Internet? Short of coming across the image randomly, or finding it with a
keyword search, there is currently no way to see where a logo, a Disney
character, an artist's work or any other non-text content is posted in
cyberspace.
A new company says it has a solution. It is about to launch a search engine
that will locate images on the World Wide Web the way existing search
engines locate words.
ImageLock, a San Francisco company that developed a technology to scan the
Internet for images, says the search engine should be up and running by the
end of the month at http://www.imagelock.com.
