I know that Mr. Lingo was a participant in Windows Refund Day, which is apparently alluded to in the article: Charles Lingo, a retired maintenance engineer residing in San Jose who received the Microsoft operating system pre-installed on his personal computer in 1998, represents the class. Lingo tried unsuccessfully to return the operating system. "He has effectively been forced to pay twice for operating software -- once for Microsoft's and a second time for the privilege of using what he believes to be a superior competing product," according to a press release issued by the three law firms representing Lingo.
