Last time I used Browserola it used the layout engine of whatever browser
you specify to show the pages, all it did was strip out tags that don't work
on this spec or that (IE3, HTML 3.0, etc). This would not compensate for
weird things like having to have three tags in a row on the same row, as
opposed to having them on different rows. And it also does not show you how
the page looks when it is layed out, because it uses the rendering engine of
the browser you have told Browserola to use to display the results.
A key difference between IE3 and these: IE4,NS2,3 and 4, is the way IE3 lays
out form elements (input boxes and select lists). IE 3's engine seems to
decide the width of a form element based non-fixed width font size, rather
than using something like (not that it actually works this way in their
code) fixed-width Courier as a reference. As a result, forms can look real
screwy in IE3 and you wouldn't know it if you used Browserola with NS4 to
check the way things look (and you wouldn't know how browsers other than IE3
render pages if you used IE3 as your Browserola viewer).
