I have been approached by an individual who currently has a business to
business "computer/systems/mainframes brokering service" . He has been
doing this for several years on a local scale. So far it has been
handled one on one with him as the middleman matching up buyers and
sellers.
Now, he wants to expand this to the Web, on a global level. He's
looking to have a site that will be the place of business. Where
sellers can list their goods for buyers to search on the site and make a
match. It would be up to the two parties to make the arrangements. He
would charge buyers for listing their information with various fees
according to the amount of time they want the listing for with a method
on the site for them to extend/renew their listings.
To me this should fit under some type of classified site model? I could
see where he could add in different twists such as; confidential
posting and forwarding service, newsletter alerts, etc.
Aside from the normal classified sites out there, does anyone have
examples of this type of operation? Also, any suggestions would be
appreciated.
