The challenge - a clear definition of 'people skills'. Is there a clear-cut
description? I have no idea. I do know, however, what I consider the traits
of someone with good people skills. That person would need to:

Deal effectively and tactfully with others in various situations that
require rational decisions, with or without a level of stress involved,
while maintaining high customer service. These skills are not
all-encompassing in that they also include the ability to listen, not just
'hear' the other person and respond to the concerns at hand in a
professional manner.

Is having 'people skills' outside the workplace any different? So-called
"freaks" can have, or develop, people skills too. It took me (undisclosed)
years to deal effectively with other people. Before that I dealt mostly
with machines, electronics and computers. They usually don't argue (much)
or talk back (intelligably), at least to a 'novice' or untrained ear.
