i'll bet a quarter that if we were to dig through the writer's previous
articles, we'd find something that was released in print, about three years
ago, to the effect of, "the web: TV, on a computer, with all the ads, and
none of the interest."   his arguments are factually correct, if
contextually shaky, and targeted directly at the insecurities of
technophobes who've been unable to escape the terms 'Linux' and 'open
source' lately.   the article is a pattern for a response which is
belittling without showing fear.

taking the issue to a level of paranoia completely unjustified by anything
in the text of the article itself, i'd also be interested to see the
author's track record regarding Microsoft.   the company's media history
that is a case study in the use of propaganda, and they've been known to
keep editorialists as pets.   a "linux is nothing special" movement would
be convenient for the 800lb gorilla of the computer advertising market, and
it might be instructive to see what's come out of this particular monkey's
typewriter in the past.


and i've just wasted 200 words on a response that could have been summed up
as: "feh!"  ;-)
