someone on webgrrls posted a hotwired story that was critical of network solutions. it 
appears that they have redesigned their site since BrettR and I engaged in a 
discussion of this last week [which it sounds like many of you missed - it was 
scintilating <g>]. 

there is now a "search box" on the top page that yields traditional WhoIs information. 
the site doesn't even look like i remember it looking last week.

nevertheless, type in http://www.internic.net and you get 
http://www.networksolutions.com/ . in my mind, they AIN'T the same thing

there is a backlash - it's been compared to a contractor building a freeway, then 
appropriating the freeway for its own marketing/cash generation [along with name 
change].
