Well, um, having just grep'd my site to see if it was there, I
discovered a subdirectory with over a dozen places actually having my
e-mail address. And even my preferences for a mate! (Gasp!)

I see the point. One interesting way of restricting access, would be
to grep the list to see if the host from which the person visiting is on
that list. Not that it eliminates all unwanted visitors... but some.

Now that is impressive! Last year I saw lots of weird scanners crawl
through my site, including some which said "email harvester" or some other
obviously spam oriented something. Maybe it is dying down. What else I
am seeing, however, is mutated names and mutated hosts used in the e-mail
addresses. Someone wants to give you a list of 15 million names, so he
makes up ten million of them. Honor amongst thieves, etc...
It is late. I just spent an hour and a half with my insomniac friend
from back East.
I wonder how many things will be e-mailed on the list tomorrow, and
how many will make it to us. Maybe we should all count them and compare
counts at the end of the day. Let us do that.
