I like that site. The whole thing looks like it is driven by cold
fusion. I once created site for a theatre chain and I had a publish
feature to publish the data to fixed pages after every update
(usually just once a week). I was reading Greenspun and I believe he
usually advocates that the database should just publish on demand. I
much prefer the publish on demand method but I always worried about
performance. If I recall, his attitude was that it should work if you
do it right (hardware/software and proper tuning).
I am pushing our company into more outsourcing. We are a
marketing/communications company. I currently have the attitude that
we should focus on the architecture/marketing and basically lead the
technical people to produce what we envison. There are some people
in our company who wonder if we can "do" all the stuff that needs to
be done. My printing analogy comes into play. We don't shy away from
jobs which require printing just becuase we have no printers and no
printing press, do we? Of course not.
Does anyone have the names of some good companies which basically
exist for the "programming" where someone else provides the analysis?
We are currently working with a firm called Venture Technologies.
This company is very technically oriented. They can suggest all the
hardware/software, do the setup, handle support and provide most of
the programming. Any recommendations for more? (in the MidSouth).

Might is not Right. But there is a lot of Might knocking
about in this world, and something has to be done about it.
