I updated the site the moment you sent the mail. Right now $crypt= "plain"; so this works only using plaintext passwords. I'm not quite sure how you figured out that I use squirrelmail for a web-interface, but I still have much to learn about squirrelmail and I do not think I have it fully configured yet, although it is pretty functional right out of the box. Feel free to request any config files. I'll put them up on the webspace as needed.
