My newaccount.php is a little different:
if ($DOMAIN_AS_PREFIX){
$prefix = $domain;
$username = $email;
if ($freenames!="YES") {
// $username = $username . "." . $domain;
$username = $username;
But it works!
I think this should go to Lucs manual.

I'm using DOMAIN_AS_PREFIX=1 in web-cyradm an in /etc/imapd.conf
unixhierarchysep: yes. Then you only have to edit line in
newaccount.php:
if ($DOMAIN_AS_PREFIX){
//$username = $_POST['email'].".".$_POST['domain'];
$username = $_POST['email'];
$seperator = '/';
Works for me ...
