Hello, I do know a thing or two about DNS, just never set MX records before, and in the tutorials I haven't found any comment about virtual domains :( And I know that local delivery is not the same as worldwide, I just stated the fact that after creating mail2.XXX domain in web-cyradm it suddenly start to work locally.
Anyhow I really appriciate your help on this list :) After reading some more on setting MX records and following your hints: I've set: IN MX 10 mail2.edu.haifa.ac.il. IN MX 20 ns.edu.haifa.ac.il. ............ mail2 IN A 212.74.41.18 ns IN CNAME mail2.edu.haifa.ac.il. Now I can send emails to accounts on mail2.edu.haifa.ac.il and ns.edu.haifa.ac.il domains. But I can not manage to send any email from acoounts on these domains (I didn't activate SMTP-AUTH on the client), this is what I got in the logs trying to send some e-mail: -------------------- Jul 25 16:36:04 ns postfix/smtpd[9764]: starting TLS engine Jul 25 16:36:04 ns postfix/smtpd[9764]: connect from leon.edu.haifa.ac.il[212.74.41.34] Jul 25 16:36:04 ns postfix/smtpd[9764]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from leon.edu.haifa.ac.il[212.74.41.34]: 554 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Relay access denied; from=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> to=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> proto=SMTP helo=<mainhutz> Jul 25 16:36:04 ns postfix/smtpd[9764]: disconnect from leon.edu.haifa.ac.il[212.74.41.34] --------------------- Any more hints/help appriciated :) Best Regards, Leon -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Muenz, Michael Sent: Monday, July 25, 2005 4:22 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [Web-cyradm] Changed servername problems > May be I don't really get the idea behind virtual domains. No, every domain where you want to use smtp, you need a MX. > ns.edu.haifa.ac.il was already created (but don't have it's own MX, > just CNAME to mail2.edu.haifa.ac.il ) I've added mail2.edu.haifa.ac.il > domain, and local delivery (sending from/to these domains to > themselves) is working now. Local delivery is not the same as worldwide! You're not an expert, so I would recommend, when changing such things to clear you DB tables and remove all users, to you have a fresh setup. > C. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
