It looks like we are getting closer! This is the output of the second (tared)
search.php:

Changing my tables manually to latin1_bin solved. Having a look at my other
databases I have to admit that this wasn't a web-cyradm problem at all!
Somehow all my mysql defaults are set to collation latin1_swedish, no idea
where this comes from: We talk spanish here and my defaults are utf-8. The
funny part: Same happens on different fresh installs with SuSE 9.3!!! - I can
see all defaults set to latin1_swedish.
So: Sorry for bothering this list with questions not related at all to
web-cyradm: I just didn't know. 1000 thanks for your help! I would never have
found this solution on my own!!! 5 stars to web-cyradmin AND its
mailinglist!!!
