As you can see the status is unchanged.. it's not ready for a 0.5.5 release and 
nobody is actually
working on it
(not even my 1 line patch was applied to cvs) so consider the development dead, 
but the cvs version
is much better than the 0.5.4 stable, so try it!

I use the cvs version in production, but i can't say if your versions are 
supported, the debian
stable ones are..
