voltron,

You are not alone in your thinking.  T2 looks like it is designed as a framework to build a social networking site or a better CMS than KPAX.  I'm taking the approach that there are two categories of features in T2, those that would be better off in web2py core (error-handling, @needsLogin decorators) and those that are specific to the type of website you would build with T2 (comments).

My position on this matter is backed up by my coding efforts, I haven't paid too much attention to T2 for the reasons above and because it just feels like the wrong way of doing things.  Kinda like what Microsoft did with Windows 9x.  DOS was not up to snuff on hardware handling, so instead of making DOS better, they built scaffolding around Windows to make it do more.

This is not to say anything against Massimo, he's a smart guy and I think T2 will find it's place.  I have my hopes set on web2py core though.  However, clear specs and documentation out of T2 would make me reconsider.

Has anything been finalized about the draft concepts on the T2
component? The docs still label it as a plugin, and I remember that
there was an ongoing discussion about that never ended with final
decisions.

Another thing, I am somewhat wary if new users are being urged to use
T2 in its draft form instead of trying out things in normal web2py
style first. Am I alone with this view?

I have have not seen any more comments from some of the people that
raised issues back then about T2. I am confused.

The blurred lines are still there( component, plugin, e.t.c.), The
draft docs still consider T2 as a plugin. Why should there be so much
being done in coding or porting apps to T2 whose specs are still a
moving target?

Maybe its just me or is there some new information or specs that have
been placed somewhere else apart from this forum?
