Over the past couple of months I developed a web application in the
package version of web2py on Mac OS X Leopard to deploy the
application in a production environment I installed Mac OS X Leopard
Server on a Mac mini and set up PostgreSQL to replace the SQLite
database. No problems there.

Now I would like to deploy the application in a production environment
provided by a hosting provider. Mac OS X Leopard Server comes with
Apache, Python 2.5 and MySQL 5, and since I want to keep the
production environment as simple as possible, I wonder wether it is a
good idea to make use of everything Mac OS X Leopard Server has to
offer instead of installing PostgreSQL etc.

A couple of weeks ago I installed MySQL on Mac OS X Leopard, however,
installing the driver was such an annoying and frustrating experience,
that I uninstalled the lot and installed PostgreSQL.

I hope one of you can take away my doubts about using MySQL as a
database, and can point out to me how the overcome the driver
problems, and if not, my hosting provider will have to go through the
trouble of getting to know PostgreSQL.

Best regards,

Annet.
