If you follow web2py's URL mapping:
http://host:port/app/ctl/fct/arg1/arg2/arg3/...?var1=value1&var2=value2,...
then request.args=['arg1','arg2','arg3',...]
and request.vars={'var1':'value1','var2':'value2',...}
