[web2py] is there a way to not use crud.archive

I thought by deleting the _archive tables I would no longer be using it.  
However now when I try and submit a change to the db I get this error:
  
    table myTable_archive already exists


I'm just trying to learn this system and I don't feel I really need to 
archive things just yet.  getting rid of those tables just made things a 
lot cleaner for me but now I seem stuck.
