you can select an expression....
fixed_column = "'admin' as admin"
rows = db(db.table).select(db.table.ALL, fixed_column)
rows[0][fixed_column] ---- 'admin'
However, in python is much more easier to do then asking the db to do it....
rows = db(db.table).select()
for a in rows:
a['whatever'] = 'admin'
rows[0]['whatever'] ------ 'admin'
--
