web2py assigns the class "btn" to the form input[type="submit"] (seehttps://github.com/web2py/web2py/blob/master/applications/welcome/static/js/web2py.js#L79) so the button style is controlled by bootstrap css that adds a background-image. A simple workaround could be: def x(): return dict(i=FORM(INPUT(_type="submit", _style= "background-color:yellow;background-image:none;")), j=INPUT(_type="submit", _style="background-color:yellow"))
