Not sure what you mean. The value stored in the cache is always a string (even when there's nothing yet in the cache, the value created to be stored in the cache must be a string). When the value is created or retrieved from the cache, it is then wrapped in XML(), so the myoutput variable is an XML object. At no point do you have a standard HTML helper.
