Above you are storing just a single value in session.purchase_order[id] -- 
the second assignment simply overwrites the first assignment. Instead, it 
appears you want to store a dict, so replace the above with:

session.purchase_order[id] = dict(quantity=quantity, price=price)

Also, note that your Ajax request won't update response.toolbar(), so the 
session values won't change in the toolbar after the initial page load.
