I don't think there is one better than the other... It is a matter of choice... Though, I like keeping all lower case since I don't have to recall that a paticular group is capitalized and another not... If you concer about end user to see the lower case group name, just add a column group_ui_name for instance and use this column for ui display. You can even think of translation by auto updating the language.py what I do...
