what does happen when you do this ?
import pyodbc
connStr = 'DRIVER={ODBC Driver 11 for SQL
Server};SERVER=server;DATABASE=database;port=port;domain=WSPG;UID=user;PWD=passwd'
conn = pyodbc.connect(connStr)
cur = conn.cursor()
cur.execute('select 1')
print cur.fetchall()
cur.close()
conn.close()
