Argh, I should have updated this. Thank you for answering! Adding the import to dev_appserver.py did not work. But I had to learn about pip (ahem) and imported Python-MySQL, which definitely helped (now there's another problem I'm tracking down). I am so used to web2py coming with everything it took me way too long to figure out there might be something I'd have to import.
