MySQL with TINYINT as booleans:
db = DAL("mysql://....", pool_size = 10, check_reserved=None, migrate=True)
db._adapter.types['boolean']='TINYINT(1)'
db._adapter.TRUE = 1
db._adapter.FALSE = 0
