Can you try running web2py without the GUI option `--nogui`
python web2py.py --nogui --port= 8080 --ip=127.0.0.1 --password='<ask>'
Command line options, in case you want to refer to them: http://www.web2py.com/books/default/chapter/29/04/the-core#Command-line-options

Do you see the CPU issue with this?

    running web2py.py 2.14.6 on a mac 10.11.6 gets me constantly a
100% cpu usage on python. Is this a known issue & is there a solution?
    Thanks - Stephan
