your requirement is redirect to the link base on *who* was calling add
function, so i assume it related with user logged in, and it's membership
pls try (not tested):
def add():
form = SQLFORM(db…)
if form.process().accepted:
if auth.has_membership(ItemsById):
redirect(URL('ItemsById') )
else:
redirect(URL('ItemsByDate') )
return locals()
