Thanks but I'm not using stored procedures. I have DAL queries in which the 
where clause is manipulated via method parameters. So the code would look 
something like this,

def get_user(id=None, first_name=None):

return db((db.auth_user.id == id) & (db.auth_user.first_name == 
first_name)).select()
