Today we have 1317 users. This is good and we have be growing steadily for one year now. Next month web2py will be two years old. Nevertheless we need to grow more and faster. Although I am committed to make sure that web2py will stay around for long the more users the easier will be for you to find collaborators/programmers to help you grow and sell your projects.
I am not asking you for a donation of money but for a small donation in time. Here is what you can do to help us: 1) Tell you friends about web2py (in person, phone, twitter, facebook, etc) 2) Blog about web2py (post an example, a screenshot about your app, a link to web2py or to your app) 3) Answer to questions online related to web-development and mention that you use web2py. 4) Post comparisons about web2py and other web frameworks about specific features. 5) Let us know what you have done with web2py and allow us to post links to your work. You can assume the Python community knows about web2py although a small subset has seriously tried it. You should also assume that outside the Python community web2py (as well as Python) are not well known. If we can conver 0.1% of Java users and/or PHP users it would be a huge success. The points to stress are scalability (GAE), backward compatibility, security, ease of development. I also think there is a big potential for web2py usage in schools (that is where it comes form in the end) in both intro programming courses (instead of bare bone Python) and advanced web development courses.
