If you look at it, python is still on development, they've made some interesting changes in version 3.0, but it doesn't mean python isn't mature/stable. Groovy on its side has borrow the best features from the best languages like python, ruby, java ... And I know about commercial financial systems written in groovy. It already has good tooling support, so too python and ruby
The interesting thing coming in dynamic languages in the jvm is that in next version of java, dynamic languages will have near the same performance as static typed languages. Well, I don't want to continue on a too off topic subject because this thread isn't about an issue in web2py. Anyone interested in the porting effort just know that here are two more hands.
