Hi Alex,

I understand that vps.net is related in some way to uk2.net and that
is the main reason I looked at them. Uk2 are one of the largest UK
hosting companies and we have used their dedicated server hosting for
years. The service has been great, in about 10 years I've only used
their support about twice and that was for upgrading assistance.

Unfortunately I can't really say much about vps.net, I have only just
reserved two nodes and have been playing around loading appliances
etc.

So far: I like the interface, the appliances load well. I've been
testing out the backup system which is USD 5 p.m. more, but also
seems excellent. There is a root access console from a web page which
seems like it could be useful in emergencies. However, I've been
accessing the CLI via Putty.

I have played around with a joomla and a django appliance which both
seemed very responsive. I haven't deployed web2py yet, and I don't
use it in production for anything. Like you I'm just doing some
research at the moment, but I'll post again if I find anything
surprising :-)

HTH David
