I like using DEV_MODE, so I've got:
DEV_MODE = request.env.http_host.startswith("localhost")
if DEV_MODE:
DAL("sqlite://bla")
else:
DAL("postgres://bla")
I'm debating MySQL vs Postgres, actually.
