Greetings Luis R. Rojas and fellow Montreal Python users on this very snowy day,
My name is Christopher (Chris) Steel. I will be giving the presentation on "Universal Cake - a case study using web2py." at this evenings meeting of Montreal Python users. (FYI, I am also a "new" Python users). I am in the midst of launching a new non-profit that is looking into creating at least two web2py applications / appliances beginning in January or February 2010. Our first two candidates are: - An "Opensource" easy to use, multilingual website/wiki/blogging system. - A minimalist webapp for tracking contributors and financial contributions to a non-profit that includes an audit trail. A very brief intro to Web2py In a nutshell web2py is a web application/appliance framework. I used it to deploy a test application to Google App Engine (GAE) about a month ago. Ironically, the evening I deployed it, I was suppose to be attending a (4 hour long) conference on using GAE. Just before leaving for the meeting I decided to "get to know" GAE a bit, and shock of shocks in about 15 minutes of very distracted efforts (I had a meeting to go to after all!) I had my little test app up and running on GAE. I decided to skip the meeting and spent the evening with my family bragging instead... Hope to see you all at this evening meeting (in spite of the snow!) for lots more info. Cheers, Christopher Steel Resources ---------------- The application was based on a "minimalist wiki" tutorial video by Massimo Di Pierro of Web2py. My little GAE test WoW! init http://myvishpala.appspot.com/init/default/index/main Please feel free to register, logon and try it out if you like. Please be aware that nothing can be "erased" (editing creates a new db entry including the old contents, the old entry remains). Don't forget your password as email has not been configured and you will not be able to recover it! The markup language in use on this alpha is based on Markdown. We have some testers info on the site already, please feel free to add any comments / notes etc. on the site. Web2py http://www.web2py.com/ Massimo Di Pierro (with sharks!)
