Thadeus, Thanks for your reply, it pointed me in the right direction. I had to change the file name to parameters_80.py to solve the problem.
I find all the port stuff rather confusing. In the httpd.conf file: Listen is set to: 32043 NameVirtualHost and VirtualHost are set to: 127.0.0.1:8000 .. and, when web2py start it creates a file called 'parameters_8000.py which I have to rename 'parameters_80.py' to be able to use the web- based administrative interface.
