Thanks mdipierro. It is indeed the URL causing the problem, as it defaults to "localhost" rather than "127.0.0.1" when I click the Browse button after Run. I did not realise the code inside appadmin.py actually checks for "127.0.0.1". Now I can really troubleshoot myownapp to make it work on GAE
