I use opera every day :) For me everything is really fast ... since I changed to 10.5x But I really don't know what you mean with the programming thing? Do you mean Firefly, the debugger? That works really fast for me, even though I am very annoyed that you cannot use it offline, that means no debugging in Opera in the metro on my way home :(
