+1 If we just use DAL, we can count on web2py's transaction management to make the app portable among supported databases.
So, Sqlite may be used in development and testing environments. If you want to run in a really small business, Sqlite could be acceptable, too. I know some systems developed in Delphi using Paradox as database working for years, now. And they don't imagine what a transaction is. :-( -- Vinicius Assef.
