Thanks, guys. I think the , was a copy/paste error. Yes, I do have a custom validator that was working at some point.
It's really odd that a simple default is not getting set. Or that modified_on is populating but not modified_by. And that everything seems to be failing silently. I've begin re-writing my whole app from scratch on a fresh install (with a lot of copy/pasting).
