Nice comment Anthony. So I would like to mend my previous suggestion
as:
1. the auth.define_tables(...) interface remains state quo
2. the auth.define_tables(...) implementation follows some new
settings, e.g.
db.define_table(
...,
format = self.settings.table_user_name_format)
