Looks like they only moved "development questions" to Stack Overflow -- they kept general discussions on Google Groups. There is a "web2py" tag on Stack Overflow, and some people do ask and answer questions there. We now also have question asking functionality at www.web2pyslices.com as well. I'm a little surprised at all the negativity toward the new Google Groups -- I find it a general improvement over the old interface. Now we can do rich text formatting, code highlighting, and attach files. And they recently added tagging as well as functionality to distinguish between discussions and questions (questions allow answer voting). I use the compact list view to list topics, and the tree view to view individual topics, and that generally works well for me. The left nav also allows you to list favorite groups, so you can easily monitor all the Google Groups you follow (very handy given that so many open source projects use Google Groups -- it seems to be the github of discussion forums). Note, one benefit of outsourcing to services like Google Groups and Stack Overflow is their search capabilities, with stemming, phrase search, relevance ranking, snippets, etc. -- not trivial to implement well.
