I agree that we need to focus on PLUGIN-SYSTEM improvement. Web2py needs a better plugin architecture, integrated with git/hg repos, with a distribution tool like PyPi or RubyGEMS (I think plugins has to be independent Python modules distributed in PyPi and instaled with "pip install web2py-plugin-anything" or some structure like that.
I think if we have a good plugin system, we will end with a lot of good plugins and it will be easy to merge them and put in to a CMS. --
