I tried it, but Yahoo Messenger seems to reset them at its own
leisure. I suppose this is a bug with Yahoo; correct me if I'm
wrong... it seems as if it either doesn't read the values set in the
stand-alone app, or it reads them but misinterprets them. Is this
possible at all? I don't know how QuickTime components work.
Indeed, ~/Library/Preferences/net.sourceforge.webcam-osx.common.plist
does reflect the values I have saved from the main app.
I've also tried playing with the auto gain checkbox, but I would say
it doesn't change anything.

However, I have noticed something weird: sometimes (I haven't been
able to reproduce this consistently), the bottom of the image looks
weird, like a corrupted jpeg image. This happens even in the macam
stand-alone viewer.
Here is a sample of it, taken as it happened on Yahoo Messenger 3.0
beta 1: http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4945/immagine48wt.png .
In this case, for some reason, the image was very dark... The messed
up part is always below my chin (I have no idea why this happens, but
it sure sounds weird).

I also tried deleting the component and the plist files and rebooting
(to make sure nothing was left in RAM), but this instability is still
there.

Has anyone with a camera based on the same controller (PAC207) ever
experienced something like this?

Thank you very much
