Hi Folks I have downloaded Macam 0.8.7 and I also have a Sony Eyetoy, so I thought I'd give them a shot :)
The Eyetoy dosn't work for me on my 366MHz iBook (toilet seat model), though the Macam application does seem to know that an Eyetoy is connected as it appears in the bottom of the Macam window. Here are some specifics. Computer: Mac OS X 10.3.9 - 320MB Ram iBook 366MHz - USB1.1 Camera: Sony Eyetoy (still works fine with PS2). Details as reported by the System Profiler: EyeToy USB camera Namtai: Vendor Name: Sony corporation Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec Product ID: 341 ($155) Bus Power (mA): 500 Eyetoy Model number: SLEH-00031 Here's exactly what happens: 1. Plug Eyetoy into USB port of iBook. Confirm little blue LED is lit. 2. Start Macam 0.8.7 3. >> The Macam window increases to 640x480 - displays "Status: Connected to Sony Eye Toy (2)" The main display area of the Macam window is black. 4. Hit the "Play camera video" button 5. >>> Status USB communication problem" is displayed. The window remains black. Also, in the system console, when the "play" button is hit, this text appears: 2006-09-03 11:29:33.736 macam[381] GenericDriver: grab aborted because of invalid data stream (too long without a frame, 1049 invalid frames, 0 invalid chunks) It's almost as if the application and camera is expecting to be connected via a USB2 connection, but it's only connected via USB1.1 - so it's not waiting long enough for complete data to arrive from the camera. That's my theory anyway. I hope this is enough info for you - if you need any further info - please email.
